Chestnut Academy Programs

PROGRAMS
(Ages 6 weeks old - 5 years old)

Two- and three-year-old programs focus on developing language and communication skills, enhancing and nurturing creativity and exploration, improving fine and gross motor skills, and teaching cooperation through play and social time with their peers.

Our four and five year old program was created to prepare our children for kindergarten. Our objective is to design a learning atmosphere where social, emotional and academic development is encouraged. Our teachers work hard to provide a variety of learning opportunities to make learning enjoyable to the various personalities and learning styles. Our program incorporates each day with children actively participating in songs of praise and worship. During our class time, large group activities and small groups that focus on a multitude of learning opportunities.

Our staff will use various methods and tools with our curriculum to start introducing the children to shapes, colors, letters, numbers, music etc. Our teachers work closely with the parents and children to help make potty training an exciting and successful journey.

School Age
(Ages 6 years old - 12 years old)

The program for school age children care consists of a time for recreation where children in grades K-5 can have fun while learning through age-appropriate activities that foster physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.

STREAMin3 Curriculum

An innovative, engaging, and interactions-based curriculum model for children ages birth through preschool

STREAMin³ curriculum was developed by a CASTL team in collaboration with, and funding from, E3:Elevate Early Education at The New E3 School. STREAMin³ is grounded in developmental and early education research. It focuses on 6 STREAM and 5 Core Skills to promote children’s development and early learning.

To increase accessibility to high-quality curriculum, the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) and the University of Virginia’s Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) now offer a low-to-no-cost curriculum option, STREAMin³, for all publicly funded birth-to-five classrooms. The curriculum provides a high-quality option for infant, toddler, preschool, and mixed-age classrooms. STREAMin³ includes training and professional development to support educators that choose to use the model in their programs.

Skills that prepare children for success in kindergarten and beyond.
